Transparency matters when you are making one of the biggest decisions of your life. At Zoi Fertility, we provide a complete cost breakdown so there are no surprises. Every package includes IVF treatment, surrogate compensation, legal documentation, and pregnancy monitoring under one roof.
When the intended mother provides her own eggs for IVF. This is the most common and preferred route when the mother is medically able to produce viable eggs. The cost typically ranges from 10 to 15 lakhs depending on the number of IVF cycles needed.
Under the 2021 Surrogacy Regulation Act, only altruistic surrogacy is permitted in India. The surrogate cannot receive monetary compensation beyond medical expenses and insurance coverage. Zoi ensures full compliance with this requirement in every case.
For couples who already have frozen embryos from a previous IVF cycle, the surrogacy process becomes more streamlined. The cost is lower since egg retrieval and fertilisation are not required, and the timeline is often shorter.
The Surrogacy (Regulation) Act 2021 sets clear eligibility criteria for both the intended couple and the surrogate mother. At Zoi Fertility, we handle the documentation and compliance so you can focus on starting your family.
The couple must be Indian citizens who have been legally married for at least 5 years. The wife should be between 23 and 50 years old, and the husband between 26 and 55 years old. A medical certificate confirming the need for surrogacy from a District Medical Board is required. The couple must not have any surviving biological, adopted, or surrogate child, except when the existing child has a life threatening disorder.
The surrogate must be a married woman between 25 and 35 years old who has at least one healthy child of her own. She can only act as a surrogate once in her lifetime. She must be a close relative of the intended couple, and her own spouse must provide written consent. A comprehensive medical and psychological evaluation is conducted before she is approved.
Before surrogacy can proceed, the intended couple must obtain approval from the District Medical Board. This is a government body that verifies all eligibility conditions are met. At Zoi Fertility, we have helped hundreds of families navigate this process successfully.
The District Medical Board reviews 11 separate permissions covering medical necessity, legal eligibility, surrogate qualification, and insurance documentation. Our legal team prepares the complete application with all supporting documents so your case is processed without delays.
The typical approval timeline in Mumbai is 2 to 4 weeks from the date of submission. Zoi Fertility coordinates directly with the Board on your behalf, which means fewer visits and less paperwork for you.
Once approved, the surrogacy agreement is drawn up by our legal partners and registered. Only after this legal step is completed does the IVF and embryo transfer process begin.
Zoi Fertility, formerly known as SurrogacyIndia, has been facilitating surrogacy journeys since 2007. We were among the first clinics in India to offer structured surrogacy programmes, and today we are one of the most experienced teams in the country.
With over 1,900 surrogacy cases completed and a dedicated team that includes fertility specialists, embryologists, counsellors, and legal advisors, we bring a depth of experience that is hard to match. Every case is unique, and we treat it that way.
SURROGACY IN INDIA
Surrogacy in India is no longer unregulated. It is no longer simple. And it is no longer something any fertility clinic can credibly offer.
Since 2007, Zoi Fertility — through its dedicated SurrogacyIndia programme — has facilitated over 1,900 surrogacy cases. That is not a volume claim. It is a body of clinical and legal experience that few centres in the country can match. Dr Yashodhara architected this programme from its inception, navigating every regulatory shift — from the 2021 Surrogacy Regulation Act to the 2023 amendments — while maintaining an 80%+ surrogacy success rate.
The stakes in surrogacy are not just medical. They are legal, emotional, and generational. Zoi treats every one of those dimensions.
Experience is not a luxury in surrogacy. It is a prerequisite.
THE SURROGACY PROCESS
Indian surrogacy law is now among the most strictly regulated in the world. Only altruistic surrogacy is permitted. At Zoi, every surrogacy case begins with a legal eligibility assessment — before a single medical test is ordered. Documentation, consents, and regulatory filings are completed with the precision of a legal proceeding. Your child’s parentage, citizenship, and inheritance rights depend on it.
Every gestational surrogate undergoes comprehensive medical, psychological, and background screening. Embryos are created through IVF/ICSI in Zoi’s continuously monitored laboratory — the same environment that supports a 65%+ overall IVF success rate. Dr Yashodhara performs embryo transfers personally.
From confirmation to delivery, the surrogate’s pregnancy is monitored under a structured prenatal protocol. Regular scans, blood work, and clinical reviews ensure that both the surrogate’s health and the baby’s development are tracked with the vigilance this responsibility demands.
YOUR SURROGACY SPECIALIST
Not every surrogacy case is straightforward. Zoi has managed cases that other centres would decline — including the world’s first IVF cycle for a patient with a heart-lung transplant, resulting in a healthy child born via surrogate. Cases involving autoimmune conditions, prior cardiac events, ovarian translocation after cancer surgery, and rare genetic disorders have all been managed within this programme.
Dr Yashodhara’s 27 years in reproductive medicine, combined with fellowship training across Singapore, Australia, Turkey, and the UK, give her the clinical range to evaluate risks that fall outside standard protocols.
When the case is complex, the strategy must be equally sophisticated. That is when experience separates the exceptional from the adequate.
Indian surrogacy law has specific provisions for OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) cardholders. The eligibility criteria, documentation requirements, and legal process differ from resident Indian couples. Zoi has dedicated experience managing surrogacy for OCI and NRI families — including navigating the intersection of Indian surrogacy law with the citizenship and immigration requirements of the intended parents’ country of residence.
Families from the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, UAE, Germany, Holland, Norway, Sweden, Singapore, Hungary, and Nepal have trusted Zoi to construct the most consequential chapter of their lives.
If you hold an OCI card and are considering surrogacy in India, begin with a legal and medical eligibility review.
Every surrogacy case at Zoi starts with a legal and medical eligibility review with Dr Yashodhara. No assumptions. No shortcuts.
